Nicholas Tosi, M.D.

 President of Retina and Vitreous Consultants of Wisconsin, Dr. Tosi received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in Ohio in 2009 after completing undergraduate studies in chemistry and economics at Northwestern University. During medical school, Dr. Tosi also earned an MBA with a focus in Healthcare Systems Management from the Weatherhead School of Management and Dean’s List recognition.

Dr. Tosi completed and was chief resident of his ophthalmology residency at Louisiana State University/Ochsner in New Orleans. He then completed a busy two year fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Retina Specialists of Alabama while completing a Helen Keller Research Fellowship. During his training, Dr. Tosi participated in a Nicaragua health mission, performing surgery on patients without access to retina care and providing surgical training to Nicaraguan ophthalmologists.

Dr. Tosi joined Retina & Vitreous Consultants of Wisconsin, Ltd., in 2015, and has performed over 6,000 vitreoretinal surgeries in his career. His surgical interests include complex retinal detachments management, all macular pathology, retinal injury from ocular trauma, advanced diabetic retinopathy, subretinal tissue plasminogen activator injection for submacular hemorrhage, and Encelto implantation for Mac Tel.

He is highly regarded by his peers for surgical excellence with Castle Connolly Top Doctor recognition in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026, and with awards in both MKE Lifestyle and Milwaukee Magazines in 2023, 2024, and 2025. He also was named one of America’s Leading Doctors for Retina Surgery by Newsweek/Statista in 2025.

Dr. Tosi is the Ophthalmology Service Chief at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center since 2024, and also serves on the Board of Vision Forward, a local non-profit dedicated to providing low vision services to those in need, beginning in 2022.

In 2025, Dr. Tosi founded Retina Research Center of Wisconsin and serves as its President to allow patients to locally participate in national clinical trials for new treatments of numerous retinal diseases.

Dr. Tosi additionally serves on several advisory boards in both the pharmaceutical and Health Information Management industries.

A member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Retina specialists, Dr. Tosi has published several articles and abstracts and speaks medical Spanish.

Dr. Tosi remains busy outside of work with his wife and three kids, and enjoys being back in the Midwest.
