Raised in Milwaukee and a graduate of Nicolet High School, Dr. Raja returned to Milwaukee and joined Retina & Vitreous Consultants of Wisconsin, Ltd., in 2001.

He received his medical degree from the University of Chicago-Pritzker School of Medicine in 1992, after completing undergraduate studies in molecular biology at Princeton University. He also received a master’s of liberal arts degree from the University of Chicago in 2019.

Dr. Raja completed his ophthalmology residency at the renowned Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Following his residency  training, he served as a major in the Medical Corps of the United States Air Force and was a Staff Ophthalmologist at Fort Dix in New Jersey. After working in private practice, Dr. Raja completed a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the Wilmer Eye Institute.

Dr. Raja is a member of the American Society of Retinal Specialists as well as the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Medical Examiners and is certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Raja has published extensively on macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy and also lectures to physicians as well as to members of the community.  He enjoys biking, reading historical nonfiction, and spending time with his wife and two children.

Dr. Raja takes great pleasure in compassionately providing the latest in medical and surgical retinal care to our community.
